Hawaiian bath and body coconut body scrub

OTHER INGREDIENTS:

Baking Soda:

Baking soda is the common name for sodium bicarbonate.  It is excellent in relieving minor skin irritations.  When added to water, it is also recommended for the treatment of insect bites and stings, prickly heat rash, poison ivy, poison oak, and poison sumac. We use baking soda in our salts as a buffering agent and to adjust the pH, softening skin.

Beeswax:

Beeswax comes from the honeycomb of virgin bees. Bees process honey from the nectar and then convert it into wax. Ten pounds of honey produces one pound of wax. It has a honey-like fragrance. It is used as an emulsifier and stiffener.

Citric Acid:

Extract from citrus fruits used as a natural pH adjuster in cosmetics. Added to body washes, it acts as a chelating agent, binding to the chlorine and iron in hard water and removing them, which helps prevent soap scum.

Epsom Salts:

Traditionally used to prepare foot baths, intended to soothe sore feet. The reason for the inclusion of epsom salts to baths is partially cosmetic; Epsom salts prevents some of the temporary skin wrinkling ("pruning") which is caused by prolonged immersion of extremities in pure water. However, magnesium sulfate, or epsom salts, can also be absorbed into the skin, reducing inflammation. When used through soaking, these salts soothe muscle pains while helping to improve rough patches.

Exfoliants:

The ingredients that we have found to assist with removing skin build-up to reveal fresh skin. These include Ground Tangerine Peels, Black Walnut Hulls, Macadamia Nut Powder, Milled Grape Seed, Organic Poppy Seed, Kiwi Seed, Organic Blue Cornmeal, Waialua Coffee, Hawaiian Sea Salt, and Maui Sugar.

Glycerin:

Glycerin is a natural emollient and humectant derived from vegetable oils. It is a by-product of soap manufacturing. A humectant and emollient, it absorbs moisture from the air and therefore helps keep moisture in whatever it is put into.

Sodium Borate:

A natural mineral which is used as an emulsifier and thickener.

Xanthan Gum:

Polysaccharide derived from beneficial bacteria, used as a natural stabilizer, thickener, and emulsifier in cosmetic preparations.

Gum Arabic:

Natural sap from the Acacia spp. tree. Used as an emulsifier in cosmetic preparations.
