Macadamia
Nut Oil has been long valued by Hawaiians for its ability to protect,
sooth and condition the skin. It is the best plant source of Palmitoleic
acid (an Omega 7 fatty acid). The high content of palmitoleic and
oleic acid (Omega 9 fatty acid) makes macadamia nut oil an effective
antioxidant, as it protects the skin's cell membranes (just as human
sebum does) from free radical damage. In recent research palmitoleic
acid is also proving to be an effective antimicobial on the skin's
surface. Skin Pharmacol Appl Skin Physiol. 2003 May-Jun;16(3):176-87
Production
of Palmitoleic acid declines in our skin as we age. By using products
with macadamia nut oil we can provide this important fatty acid to
our skin. It is known to be particularly good for dry or mature skin
that needs extra nourishment and moisture. It penetrates and hydrates
skin quickly. It absorbs well into skin, is highly emollient and soothing.
Macadamia Nut Oil also contains alphatocepherols (Vitamin E) and squalene.
