List of skin oils used in Hawaiian Bath and Body products.

Bath and Body Oils

Bath and Body Oil softens the skin with a fine film of oil either applied by massage or in a bath. Our body oil when used as a bath oil can also act as aromatherapy as the oils scent the air when they are released by the steam into the air. Bath oils also help to soften hard water.

Our oils are made with natural vegetable ingredients.

Sweet Almond Oil and Skin

Sweet Almond Oil has a soothing, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant effect do to a high content of essential fatty acids, Vitamin E and phytosterols.

Vitamin E which is a natural antioxidant that protects our skin from free radical damage. Free radical damage leads to premature age spots, wrinkling, and can even cause cancer.
Fatty acids :

palmitoleic acid (fatty acid that our skin produces in decreased amounts as we age)
oleic acid (non-essential omega-9 fatty acid, component of more complex cell membrane lipids)
linoleic acid and alpha-linolenic acid (essential Omega 3 fatty acid helps keep skin from becoming dry by keeping cell membranes healthy)

Phytosterols
Plant based compounds that can mimic the action of cholesterol in our skin. Our cholesterol is the “glue” in our cell membranes. It improves our skin barrier function. Phytosterols can act as cholesterol and help to fortify our skin’s natural barrier function.

Jojoba Oil and Skin
Jojoba Oil is actually not an oil but a waxy ester. It has a very similar chemical makeup to our own skin’s natural moisturizer, sebum. Because it is so similar it penetrates very quickly and provides the same protection. Jojoba makes skin softer and more malleable. It is hypoallergenic and has been shown to have very good anti-inflammatory action on the skin. (3)
It is a good addition to bath oils as it readily disperses in water and will not leave a ring around the tub.

Avocado Oil and Skin

Avocado oil has essential fatty acids, Vitamin E and phytosterols also. (See above)
It protects skin from drying and improves elasticity. It has also been shown to increase soluble collagen content in the skin as long as the avocado oil is unrefined. (1) Avocado oil has also been shown to be beneficial as a long-term treatment for psoriasis. (2)

How to use as a bath oil

Use only 1/2 oz of the body oil blend per bath. Add after running your bathwater. Mix well to insure that the blend has dispersed well in the tub and hop on in. Its best to add the bath oil just before getting in the tub instead of while the water is running so that the oils don’t evaporate before you get into the bath. Using a bath oil blend is safer than adding pure essential oils directly to the bath water. This is because the essential oils can settle on one spot on your skin and cause irritation.
